Abstract

The paper deals with the concept of rationality, which is considered as one of the functional traits required for positive mental health. Rationality is meant here as a part of cognitive style and represents more or less persistent behavioural strategy throughout one’s life. Psychotherapists and philosophers share different views on what type and what degree of rationality is crucial for saying that a person is mentally healthy or functional and what is the role and meaning of rationality in the course of psychotherapy.
