Abstract

There is a growing need for batteries to power electronic systems deep within wells. These systems do everything from powering sensor systems with wireless communication to driving motor-controlled valves. This paper presents the practical oil field industry requirements that battery engineers need to know in order to develop new high-temperature batteries subterranean wells, both for the oil industry and for geothermal energy generation.
