Abstract
Hazel Dendy who built the Department of Orthoptics at Bellevue Medical Center and presently directs it together with her associate, Elizabeth Shaterian, have put into book form the outline of their course for opthalmological residents and orthoptic students. The outline covers in 184 pages every clinical aspect of the field. Basic sciences have been omitted. It is regrettable that Miss Dendy, whose talent in this field is considerable, did not write a larger book that included the lectures themselves. The outline will have little meaning to anyone not already knowledgeable about ocular motility. Teachers of orthoptics may find it useful to structure their courses after Miss Dendy's thorough outline and the book can provide a review for the student orthoptist. Miss Dendy's ideas on orthoptic treatment are, in my mind, correct and consistent with the most recent concepts in the United States and in England. Of particular merit is
