Abstract

There are four major techniques for growing crystals of biological macromolecules: vapour diffusion, microbatch, free interface diffusion and dialysis. Each method has its inherent advantages and disadvantages. The most popular techniques are vapour diffusion and microbatch, while the free interface diffusion has recently been gaining use in high‐throughput experiments. This chapter describes the methods and provides guidance to converting between the vapour diffusion and microbatch methods.
