Abstract
We draw upon cognitive psychology, social cognition, and social cognitive theories to develop a model of practical intelligence, its antecedents, and its role in the exploitation phase of entrepreneurship. Related venture and industry experience and two learning orientations interacted to predict practical intelligence. Practical intelligence predicted higher venture growth across four years.
