Abstract

We show how it is possible to improve the efficiency of a laser system by adding a classical heat engine cycle to the laser's gaseous working media that can recover both thermal and internal waste energy from the gas. Experimental implementation of a pulsed $\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ laser combined with a gas expansion cycle is discussed.
