Abstract

The large scope and high degree of automation in present power plant engineering demands a clear arrangement and easy to survey structure of the process control system. The basis for it is generated by progressive automation concepts which represent a functional subdivision of the system and which are themselves functionally subdivided further. The process control system becomes transparent, modular and flexible by these structured concepts. The designs of these automation concepts can be collected in a library for automation engineering and this they are available to all system users. The structuring of the concepts furthermore facilitates a problem-free and simple supplement or expansion of the concepts. This advantage especially complies with the implementation of more sophisticated control algorithms in existing automation concepts.
