Abstract
The performance of i.f. transformers is investigated theoretically, and the results applied to practical design. Dissimilar primary and secondary damping is taken into account, without complicating the analyis or the design method by the introduction of a new term-equivalent `Q' of the transformer. The emphasis, throughout the paper, is on practicability and comparisons are made between the calculated and observed performance of a particular design, and the paper concludes with some notes on unconventional i.f. transformer construction.
