Abstract

A parallel algorithm for direct solution of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations using a spectral scheme has been developed and successfully implemented on a 3-processor multicomputer. The algorithm utilizes the parallelism inherent in the spectral representation of the Navier-Stokes equations. Communication between the processors has been kept at a minimum, and most of the CPU time is dedicated to computation. The actual solutions on 32 3 and 64 3 grids have resulted in parallel efficiency of between 87.2% and 97.3%.
