Abstract

Setting: General rehabilitation ward in an 800-bed teaching hospital. Patients: 7 stroke patients with left ventricular thrombus. Case Descriptions: Of the patients transferred for stroke rehabilitation over an 18-month period, 7 had left ventricular thrombosis on echocardiogram. All except 1 were anticoagulated; the remaining patient had a hemorrhagic stroke. These patients were kept at low physical exertion with cardiac precautions during their rehabilitation until they were fully anticoagulated.
