Abstract
The recent health care legislation mandates major changes to the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) program, including a bonus for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program participation. These changes should prompt radiologists to revisit their levels of participation. In this column, I describe the anticipated changes to the PQRI program, which will transition from paying a bonus for success to requiring a penalty for failure. I also describe the incentive payment for MOC program participation and point out potential long-term implications on future payment models for radiology services.
