Abstract

Summary: High quality of bowel preparation before colonoscopy seems to be the most important condition for safety and efficacious investigation of the large bowel. An analysis of 758 patients who underwent colonoscopy in one health care center showed that split preparation is significantly associated with higher quality of the bowel cleansing. Application of drugs with simethicon component significantly reduce the risk of bubbles. Patients prefer small volume laxatives with good palatability.
