Abstract

Malignant salivary gland tumors show great variability both in their morphopathology as well as their clinical behavior. Immunohistochemical studies have been used to show the antigenic profile of MEC, ACC and PLGA with the aim of investigating the histogenetic aspects as well as to help in the differential diagnosis of the tumors. The aim of this study was to assess the variation in immunohistochemical expression of cytokeratins, vimentin, muscle specific actin, KI-67, CD117 and GFAP in 6 cases of MEC, 6 cases of ACC and 6 cases of PLGA. Statistically significant finding have been detected which suggest that these markers are sensitive and useful for differential diagnosis between MEC, ACC and PLGA.
