Abstract

Aesthetic medicine deals with patients’ quality of life improvement by reducing imperfections in appearance. It focuses on inhibiting and slowing down ageing and wrinkles reduction. One of the most frequently performed procedures is hyaluronic acid fillers injections to fill and improve volume loss, deep folds and wrinkles. Those products have the gel characteristics, therefore their injection into the tissues may be associated with complications development, including vascular occlusion. The authors describe variety of possible vascular complications following aesthetic procedures with special attention paid to blindness and management algorithms in such cases.
