Abstract

Wind energy has become a popular energy source to fulfill the load demand and generate green electricity. Nevertheless, the rapid expansion of wind energy technologies and their integration into grids have technically affected the power quality, power system reliability and stability. Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is an efficient device utilized to control the Synchronous Generator (SG) during the disturbance and improve the stability. In this research, the effect of the Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SGIG) and Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) on the transient stability of the power system was investigated. Furthermore, the transient stability of the power system was enhanced using PSS1A, which is a single-input PSS. The results showed that the PSS1A had effectively enhanced the stability of the studied system where the settling time of the oscillations was reduced.
