Abstract

This paper discusses the importance of power system stabilization and includes a detailed analysis of how to reduce power system losses. It discusses how power system instabilities are caused by power losses and other causes leading to instability in the power system and the need of power system stability in current days and why it is important. In this paper we have worked on optimizing the power system using optimization technique. We have also studied and compared different types of optimization techniques for stabilizing the power system. We have used particle swarm optimization technique in this paper for studying the power system stability by minimizing the losses in the electrical system In this paper, we looked upon the use of Particle Swarm optimization in optimizing the losses in a standard 3-bus Power System and compared the result with traditional computation methods. Our main motive in this paper aims to improve the voltage profile of the system, resulting in overall system improvement, by reducing power losses such as Active Power Losses and Reactive Power Losses. We have compared the final result of optimization with traditional method suggesting the better way to reduce power losses and maintaining a healthy and stable power system.
