Abstract
A method is proposed for assessment of composite power system reliability, including both the static and dynamic processes, through the sequential Monte Carlo simulation. The impacts of both the permanent and transient faults on system reliability are considered. The stochastic properties of the contingencies are involved in this paper. Further, to reflect the effects of the system dynamic process and the importance of transient faults, two new reliability indices associated with transient stability are introduced for the integrated reliability evaluation. The approach is illustrated through the WSCC 9-bus system.
