Abstract

In this study, the application of Time-Frequency Analysis (TFA) to Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which makes dynamic changes of spectral components observable, was discussed. To this end, a Smoothed-Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (SPWVD) was applied to HRV in patients with vasovagal Syncope. To access the performance of TFA of HRV using SPWVD, the resultant power spectrum was compared with that obtained by the classical AR model. As a result, it has been shown that TFA of HRV is a very effective method in the power spectral analysis and also provides an observation of time-varying spectral components.
