Abstract

Affected by the single-phase power supply mode of electric railway and properties of the locomotive load, power quality problems such as high amount of harmonics and negative-sequence components exist in the traction system. To improve the power quality in the traction system, this paper proposed a power quality management scheme based on railway power conditioner and the passive filter. Firstly, topology of traditional power quality management device and railway power conditioner are analyzed. Then, dynamic compensation principle of railway power conditioner was analyzed and a improved control strategy of railway power conditioner was designed. Finally, through building a simulation, compare the treatment effect of traditional power quality management devices and railway power conditioner in terms of current harmonics and negative sequence on three-phase side. Simulation results show that improved control strategy based on railway power conditioner is better to solve negative sequence and harmonic issues in the traction power supply system.
