Abstract

The control technique utilizing multilayer gamma filter control algorithm is presented and analysed in the paper for the grid connected three phase distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) system. For improving the power quality, DSTATCOM developed using a voltage source converter (VSC) is utilized. A PI (Proportional Integral) controller maintains DC link voltage of VSC in accordance to the reference value. An adaptive gamma filter based control technique is used for the control of VSC. The fourth order multilayer gamma filter is used for extracting the load current fundamental component and generating the pulses for switching of VSC. This system is developed under nonideal conditions where with vast variations in voltages and loads it performs satisfactorily.
