Abstract

Power Quality disturbances are a characteristic of typical distribution system. There are various issues like harmonics, voltage sag/swell, interruption etc which cause a serious impact on the quality of power supplied. In order to counter these power quality issues, Power Quality improvement devices are used. D — STATCOM or Distribution STATCOM is one such device. D — STATCOM finds widespread applications in Power systems. This paper describes the mathematical modeling of a three phase AC distribution network incorporated with D — STATCOM implemented to mitigate current harmonics caused due to non-linear loads in the system.
