Abstract

This paper assesses the knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of the workers in the local station of the Greek Electric Company at Skyros Island in Greece on the issue of climate change. The research was carried out in January 2015. The methodology used was interviews through questions formed as a result of the study of the relevant bibliography on knowledge, attitudes and behaviour on environmental issues and particularly issues related to climate change. The findings showed that there was a misunderstanding of the term of global climate change. Most of the time power plant workers' attitudes seemed to be environmentally friendly, nevertheless their behaviour appeared to be influenced by their personal interests and benefits, rather than the global well-being.
