Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study of a new method for the electric drive load condition monitoring. The parameter for condition monitoring is the mechanical torque of the electrical machine. The proposed approach is based on the analysis of energy transformations in an electric machine. Torque is calculated based on power and loss data. To calculate losses and powers, instantaneous values of voltages, currents, speeds and design parameters of electrical machines are used. The condition monitoring method under consideration does not require additional measuring devices. The torque transducer is directly an electric machine. As a result, the electric machine in such a system is both an energy converter and a measuring converter. The dual use of the electrical machine allows equipment control and condition monitoring through a supervisory and data acquisition system. The study proposes a quadratic approximation for real-time loss calculation. This allows you to increase the system performance for cases of diagnosing emergencies. The method of determining the adaptive power loss coefficients is given. The results of testing a prototype system for electric drive load condition monitoring are presented. The paper concludes that the dual use of electrical machines in the field of condition monitoring is becoming increasingly important.
