Abstract

In this paper, various shading patterns of solar photovoltaic (PV) array topologies are studied. The main objective is to study the mismatches of power in PV modules for non-uniform irradiations. Wasted power and non-linearity in PV behaviors is due to shading. Under shaded conditions, the P-V and I-V behaviors exhibit non-linearity along by several load maxima. In this paper, the investigations of the optimal layout of PV modules in a PV array are worked out to provide maximum peak power point (PPP) and peak voltage point (PVP) under various shaded conditions. Two type of solar PV array formations e.g. Total cross tied (TCT-PVF) and Non-symmetrical (NS-PVF) are considered for various shaded patterns. The modeling of PV array for various types of topologies is done in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The extensive results have been taken on these topologies for partial shading patterns and analyzed, which proves the NS-PVF execution is better as compared to TCT-PVF for most of the shading patterns.
