Abstract

The author presents a tutorial review of power electronics and drives in which the status of the technology and its future are discussed. He focuses on power semiconductor devices, converter circuits, AC machine control, and microcomputer applications in power electronics systems. He examines the impact of computer-aided design and artificial intelligence, and he summarizes the technological trends.
