Abstract

This letter investigates the problem of power distribution along with the word error probability (WEP) constraint for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based (OFDM) dual-function radar and communication sensor. First, we optimize the radar signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with the constraints of the WEP requirement and total transmit power. Second, we propose an alternating direction sequential relaxation programming algorithm that involves solving a sequence of approximation convex version of the original nonconvex problem. Finally, simulation results are provided to evaluate the effect of different WEP requirements on the radar SNR, and a significant gain in the radar SNR can be achieved, compared to the average power allocation case.
