Abstract

ABSTRACT Amicroprocessor-based system was developed as a means of determining how effectively tractor engines were being utilized in the field. The distribution of field operating time was monitored within the power-speed range of the tractor. The area within this range was electronically divided into a grid and time spent in each element was accumulated. Graphical representations of time distributions show the effects of operating practices on field efficiencies. Field trials under normal conditions indicated differences in field performance of up to 80% as measured by a time consumption index.
