Abstract

In this paper, a particular power curtailment controller is introduced to allow the grid-tied PV inverter supporting the electricity supply, apart from using only solar hybrid system, during islanding operation. The proposed controller will adjust the setpoint of grid-tied PV inverter to follow the changes of load consumption and PV power of solar hybrid system. The dynamic performances of islanding operation among solar hybrid and grid-tied PV systems are investigated based on a transient simulation on DIgSILENT PowerFactory software. The results show that, comparing to the case of using solar hybrid system alone, the support from grid-tied PV system during islanding operation can effectively extend the use of battery power. Therefore, this is possible to improve the uninterrupted electricity supply to the load during the islanding condition.
