Abstract

With the work needed to lift and inject fluids increasing over the last ten years, oil field energy usage has increased proportionally. At the same time, all forms of energy have increased in price. Small volumes of gas that have not been sufficient to attract a sales point encourage a prudent operator to utilize this gas through induction generation. The installation of surplus natural gas engines driving induction generators to reduce lease electric cost is discussed.
