Abstract
The use of iron powder for the reduction of hexavalent chromium has many benefits. It reduces Cr(VI) safely and efficiently at low cost. Cr (VI) ions reduction process effect using a revolving fixed bed reactor in a batch mode on the power number, power consumption and energy consumption cost was investigated. This reactor type presents a very low power consumption and energy consumption cost. The Reynolds number varied from104 to 105, when the power number values varied from 0.37 to 0.6. The lowest energy consumption cost and power consumption were 0.034 × 10−3 EGP/g Cr (VI) removed and 0.06 × 10−3 kW/g Cr (VI) removed and, respectively.
