Abstract

Hydraulically actuated clamping devices are particularly suitable to increase the automation of workpiece fixture. Therefore different "power-by-wire" clamping systems have been developed. The hydraulic pressure supply including the electric drive and all required control components are integrated into these systems. The systems are coupled to the production cell only by electric management. System pressure and thus the clamping force are monitored by pressure transducers. If the pressure drops below a certain value the pressure supply is automatically started in order to hold the pressure on the preset value.
