Abstract

As always, the opening Plenary Session of MPIF's annual “ Powdermet ” conference and exhibition set the tone for the entire 3-day show. More to the point, it blended seamlessly with its so-called parallel conference, which this year was on Additive Manufacturing. The technical overlap means that additive manufacturing (AM) and powder metallurgy (PM) each comprise a subset of the other, making the second event title, ‘ AMPM2015 ,’ particularly apt. I propose to cover some of the highspots of each in this and coming issues of MPR. Also, for the benefit of readers not acquainted with the organization, I’ve included as a footnote some details of the friendly and efficient MPIF.
