Abstract
In a coating deposition process using a powder as starting material, the energetic parameters of some of its particles as a rule fail to reach the level necessary for the particles to attach themselves to the basis material and become part of a sound coating. The ratio of the weight of powder which has been retained in the coating to the weight of material fed into the spraying device is known as the "coefficient of powder utilization" (Ke) [I]. There is a rough correlation between this coefficient and the quality of the deposit (its density and adhesion), and the former thus characterizes the degree of perfection of the deposition plant and its operation. Apart from this, knowledge of this coefficient enables deposition to be performed so that powder losses are kept at a minimum.
