Abstract

By means of the mathematical simulation, the solidification kinetics and the structure formation of powder particles of different shapes (spherical, cylindrical, planar) from nickel-base alloy are investigated in the process of metal atomization in two cooling media (water, air). The formation of the metal crystalline structure and the thermal stresses is studied. The optimal conditions of particle solidification are predicted from the point of view of the formation of most fine and dense crystalline structure and minimal thermal stresses.
