Abstract

The crystal and magnetic structures of Rb 2CrCl 3Br, Rb 2CrCl 2Br 2 and Rb 2CrCl 2I 2 have been determined by powder neutron diffraction at 90K and 4.2K. Structures, refined in the Bbcm space group, are similar to Rb 2CrCl 4 but with the heavier halide ions occupying the axial sites. Like Rb 2CrCl 4 the mixed-halide salts are all ferromagnetic with refined Cr moments of 4.0(2) B.M.
