Abstract

This paper describes a wall-stabilized arc for the spectroscopic observation of elements injected into the arc as a powder. The injection of the powder is controlled electronically. The output signal represents the ratio of the emission of two lines belonging to two different elements in the powder. The output signal stability and reproducibility are given. It is shown that the apparatus is well suited to the analysis of powders.
