Abstract
The paper considers the problem of eliminating poverty as one of the key goals of the world community at the beginning of the 20th century. The difficulty is that poverty is multidimensional in terms of socio-economic characteristics. Since the early 20th century, the United Nations has sought to unite member states’ efforts to address the issues of inequality, economic growth, climate change, energy, natural resources, and the environment, as well as those of peace and justice, which are cornerstones of poverty eradication. The goals and the means to achieve them have been identified as prerequisites for poverty eradication in accordance with the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. The paper reviews the conditions to guarantee the poor and vulnerable access to basic services at affordable prices, equal rights to economic resources and ownership of factors such as land without unnecessary barriers.
