Abstract

The system formed by dimethylthallium(III), 2-thiobarbiturate (TBA) and hydrogen ions in aqueous solution at 20°C and I = 100 mmol dm −3 (nitrate) has been characterized by means of glass-electrode potentiometry. Protonation constants for 2-thiobarbiturate and the formation constant for the complex [(Me 2Tl)(TBA)] − were found to be 109 β LH = 10.531, log β LH 2 = 12.634 and log β ML = 2.343, respectively.
