Abstract
SummaryThe enhancement of vascular activator- and urokinase-induced lysis of human plasma clots following preincubation of the plasma with flufenamate - a fibrinolytic organic anion - was assessed by thrombelastography. Thrombelastograms clearly demonstrated an acceleration of activator-induced clot lysis by flufenamate. Based on the results of previous studies it is concluded that this chemical potentiation of activator-induced fibrinolysis results from inactivation of inhibitors of the fibrinolytic enzyme system, especially antiactivator, by the compound. The potential therapeutical implications of these findings are discussed.
