Abstract

This article discusses the potential uses of the Rorschach Comprehensive System in the preemployment screening of police officers. The Rorschach has, up to now, been little used for this purpose. However, numerous articles in the current literature suggest that the Rorschach may be useful in selecting police officers in conjunction with more traditional psychological screening techniques. The general characteristics of the Rorschach that make it potentially acceptable for such use are discussed, as well as specific characteristics and variables of the Comprehensive System that may be useful to psychologists for police selection. Potential avenues for future research that may ultimately lead to the use of the Rorschach for the pre-employment screening of police officers are also included.
