Abstract

Formaldoxime is a small molecule of the oxime family. Isomers of this family are among the list of chemical species populating the interstellar medium. Several of these species exhibit a maser or laser action. The observation of numerous strong optical-optical double resonance has shown that there are a considerable number of near coincidences between laser lines of CO 2 and the absorption lines of formaldoxime molecule (CH 2NOH). The submillimetre region of this molecule exhibit several laser lines, two of which are distinctively strong. Synthesis, spectral properties of formaldoxime and the conditions for observation of potential laser transitions from this molecule in the interstellar medium are discussed.
