Abstract

Given the increasing global recognition of climate change as a pressing concern, the rising costs associated with petroleum products, and the declining expenses linked to renewable energy power systems, it is becoming more likely that renewable energy systems will have a substantial role in addressing electricity generation. The efficacy of the smart grid concept in the implementation of electric power networks has been demonstrated. The present work investigates the incorporation of renewable energy sources within smart grid systems. The introduction presents a comprehensive outline of the integration of distributed generation and renewable energy inside smart grid systems. This chapter provides an in-depth analysis of smart grids, focusing on their conceptual framework and delving into the advantages and disadvantages associated with the integration of renewable energy technologies inside smart grid systems. It is crucial to comprehend the pricing dynamics linked to renewable energy through an examination of the unique characteristics inherent in renewable energy sources.
