Abstract
The advent of the novel corona disease Covid-19 has brought about a situation that needs urgent global attention. As no specific antiviral drugs are available in mainstream medicine for treating symptoms of Covid-19, prevention seems to be the best strategy. But unfortunately, currently no modern preventive medicine is available, too. Different theories regarding treatment of Covid -19 are budding up daily. In this scenario the world is hopefully looking at complementary and alternative medicine to come up with a solution. Though, the scientists all over the world, are trying hard for the development of antiviral drug and vaccine for Covid-19, emergence of the virulent strain, with least scientific studies and information, uncertainty of time required for development of Covid -19 vaccine and mass casualties have made the situation very grave. Ayurvedic herbal and herbo-mineral preparations have shown a wide range of bio-chemical activities and they can be effectively used as preventive measure in present times. Few of them are discussed here as an evidence based approach so that their potential can be used in this time of pandemic.
