Abstract
Rapeseed oil has been found to be a potentially useful substitute for petroleum-based hydraulic fluid. Thisarticle compares the hydraulic fluid properties of raw rapeseed oil with three commercially available hydraulic fluids:Mobil EAL 224H, PlantoHyd 40, and Hy-TransPlus.<br><br>Experimental results showed that rapeseed oil has hydraulic fluid properties comparable to the three commercialhydraulic fluids. Some of the hydraulic fluid properties, like flash point, viscosity index, and mist spray flammability, werebetter for rapeseed oil.
