Abstract
Background and Aim: Study was estimated oxidative stress status, C reactive protein (CRP), serum amyloid A1 (SAA1), soluble programmed cell death-ligand 1 (sPD-L1), vitamin D and lipid status in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients (pts) as potential predictive and/or prognostic biomarkers. Method: It was done by serum analysis, in 30 IPF patients and 30 matched healthy controls (CG). Results: IPF pts had significantly higher level of advanced oxidation protein products (54.7 vs. 34.2 µmol/L, P Conclusions: IPF patients were in a state of a profound oxidative stress, consequence of the inflammatory component of the IPF. sPD-L1 may have significant role in immune responses and prediction not only in tumours, but in IPF too. It may be speculated that sPD-L1 should be evaluated as new prognostic or/and predictive biomarker to aid potential treatment strategies including immunotherapy in IPF.
