Abstract

Recent studies have indicated that Vietnam has high potential solar resources to successfully develop the solar energy sector. The solar irradiation levels in Central and Southern of Viet Nam are comparable to most countries in the region and deploying this substantial potential of solar energy at production sites would give benefits to industrial sectors such as reducing their significant expenses on electricity due to high tariffs during peak hours and the burden on national power demand as well as significantly contribution to decline greenhouse gases. Thus, industrial solar PV rooftop applications have great development potentials and promise interesting investment opportunities. However, few factories or manufacturers have installed PV rooftop up to now. This study is to identify opportunities that are commercially viable and determine the potential industrial and commercial sectors promising for commercialization of solar PV rooftop applications in Danang city. The electricity produces from typical system is validated with those from real PV rooftop installed on the rooftop of Danapha pharmaceutical joint stock company in Danang city. The cost-benefit analysis based on data from site survey and industrial software is then carried out to confirm commercially viable projects.
