Abstract

In this chapter, authors have discussed biochemical properties and health benefits of lemon grass, Cymbopogon citrates. Lemon grass belongs to family poaceae and is a local herb from India and has been developed in tropical and sub-tropical countries. It is broadly utilized as a medication. Lemon grass oil is utilized as a pesticide and additive, and has antifungal properties. Lemon grass has been expended in different structures. Because of the creation of lemon grass oil as a noteworthy segment, two of the species C. citrate and C. flexosusare for the most part are called lemon grass. Lemon grass typically is utilized as a domestic treatment of antibacterial gastrointestinal issue, neurological infections as an antispasmodic, pain relieving, narcotic, hostile to pyretic and diuretic. Lemon grass is a society solution for hack, influenza, cerebral pain and numerous vascular issues. Lemon grass has several therapeutic qualities because of vicinity of some compound substances, which can create a distinct physiological activity in human body.
