Abstract

Ordos Basin is the largest low permeability onshore petroliferous basin in China, with the total reserve amount of over one billion ton. CO2 EOR and sequestration in this region enjoy huge potential and broad prospect. In this paper, eighteen oilfields in YL City and its surrounding area within 300 kilometres was taken as the study object, potential of CO2 flooding for EOR and sequestration was researched and evaluated. Results show that eight oilfields are suitable for CO2 miscible flooding and ten oilfields are suitable for CO2 immiscible flooding. The predicted enhanced recovery efficiencies are about 12% and 6.5%, respectively. The expected cumulative oil production is 80 million tons with CO2 storage of over 130 million tons.
