Potential energy constants and rotational distortion constants for SiH 4, SiD 4, GeH 4, and GeD 4

Abstract

The potential energy constants for SiH 4 and GeH 4 have been obtained from the vibrational wave numbers and the Coriolis coupling constants ζ 3 and ζ 4. As a check, these potential energy constants were then used to calculate the wave numbers and the Coriolis coupling constants for SiD 4 and GeD 4. Good agreement between the observed and calculated values was obtained. The rotational distortion constants also were evaluated for the four molecules, using the expressions recently derived by Herranz for CH 4.
