Abstract

Antibacterial Fabrics In article number 2201061, Eduardo Barbieri, Stefano Menegatti, and colleagues present scalable methods to produce antibacterial fabrics by functionalizing nonwoven fiber mats with antimicrobial peptides and polymers. Microgels are photo-crosslinked on nonwovens fibers and utilized to load and release peptides. Selected fabrics affording sustained release of peptides show antibacterial activity against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, with no adverse effect on human skin cells.
